Epidural. Yes or no?
To epidural or not to epidural??
I didn't want an epidural at first but I was induced with and oxytocin drips and when the drips reach 60ml the pain was super unbearable I feel I'm gg to dieee. I took epidural at 7cm and only rest for an hour then the pain came back and I was 9cm open and tada baby is out
Took epi for my 4th child as I was GBS positive and was on IV for almost half a day while on labour. What I dislike about epi is that it slows down labour and I lost my ability to push as it was numb down there. Had to stop the epi so I can feel the urge to push.
I also lose the ability to push but my gynae guided me so it was not difficult. I decided to take epidural for this 3rd pregnancy as I'm already 41 and I don't think my body at this age can take it without epidural. with my first 2 I didn't take any but back then I was just in my 20s. Although I had itch and slight shivers as a side effect of epidural it was manageable. I've no regrets.
For me I decided to take it because I was induced and the dilation was super slow. At 2cm dilation, the contraction is every 2-3 mins and still the same after 2 hrs. So I decided to take it n rest. So I will have energy to push.
Best decision I ever made especially when I didn’t get enough sleep for the past few days. N I would say the best rest I ever had. The trick is to ask for it earlier so u can atleast feel the pressure to push. Don’t feel any pain at all.
I could only stand the contraction pain for 8 hours, so when labour lasted longer than that I took epi. Thank goodness I took it because labour lasted a total of 30 hours in the end and I could sleep painlessly overnight before pushing the next day.
Depends on your situation. If you can bear the pain, kudos to you. I tried to bear it but once reach 5cm it was too much and my BP was still high so took epidural and my BP went down and had some rest before the final showdown☺
Depends on your pain tolerance? But to be honest, why not? Pregnancy is tough enough, motherhood is tough enough, likewise for child birth. And if there's something to ease the pain of delivery, why not?
Go for it. I tell you when the contraction comes one hour every 5mins pain... Really... At first I also don't want. But I can't tahan. By the time you see. Epidural also pain when needle putting in.
Depend on your tolerance of pain! For me, I just take, I don’t want to b hero! I just take as it didn’t make giving birth that painful n scary. I have friends with 3 kids n don’t go for epidural.
If you can bear the pain, you don't have to. I asked for epidural when I feel that the laughing gas was useless and was 4cm dilated. After taking the epidural, I had a good rest before pushing.
