Hi anyone's babies caught stomach flu before? My gal seems to have caught it from her cousin. I have brought her to see a PD but he only prescribed probiotics and told me I can continue to give solids. Did the PD give other medicine for stomach flu and what did you feed baby during those few days? My gal only has a slight fever and runny nose which PD said is due to her left ear is bit infected. I keep hearing my gal pass gas and she seems to keep having some liquid bubbling sound in the throat and she tries to swallow it down.
My PD also prescribed probiotics and nothing else when they caught stomach flu. If they have fever, then the usual paracetamol. Probiotics is good for the gut. I guess that's why probiotics is given. Usually biogaia (2x 5 drops a day) or lacteol fort. As for food, usually I just give porridge. Porridge water is suppose to be good for diarrhea. Just make sure your daughter is getting sufficient liquid to avoid dehydration. Speedy recovery.Read more
Hi, If babies have stomach flu then they usually get diarrhoea or slight fever, loss in appetite, stomach ache and vomiting. Little babies are prone to get infection because their immune system is still not very strong and haven't developed antibodies to fight off germs. And, yes, it does spread from an infected child to another. My daughter is 6 but she still is quite prone to it. If your baby is breastfeeding then let her be on your feed and if she is older and on solids then make her eat curd and nicely boiled mashed rice. Give her soups. All food you can give which are light on stomach.Read more
- Mummies, want to seek advice from all of you. My gal has been fever for the past 4 days from 3pm, 1am and 4am. Fever ranging from 37.5 to 38.9. Strangest thing is that every morning till before 3pm, she is fine and active. Why is the fever starts at certain timing only? Check with the PD, PD don't actually know why my gal is like that, just said that my gal is fighting with the flu virus. So not sure is it something else besides just flu.
- My 13month old gal having phelgm in the throat (think for about 3wks) been going back to pd and the pd change medicine for her but it did not works at all. And it has be too long so she was given antibiotic for 5days (is her 2nd day) with cough and phelgm medicine. Is there anyway to get the phelgm out of her or should i bring her to suck out the phelgm? Does applying vicks on her back, chest and foot works for the phelgm?
- my girl is 3 weeks old. she's having flu and cough. went to pd and pd said it's normal for babies to have phlegm. and coz she's too small, there is no medication. but my qns is her appetite has went down and she always wanna sleep. every feeding only 20 to 40ml. and she will sleep for 5 to 6 hrs. shld I wake her up to feed her? or is sleeping a way of recuperating?
