Back to workforce

Hi Working Mummies I am unemployed now and my baby is due next month Dec. I would like to return back to the workforce after my confinement, around end Jan. Planning to hire a daytime nanny to take care of my baby tgt with my mum. Would like to hear your views if this is feasible? Or is actually not ideal? Thanks.

When my wife first gave birth, we also thought about hiring a nanny because she didn't want to stay at home and get discouraged. It was very funny when I was trying to talk to my peers via video chat https://callmechat.com/ with my wife running around with nappies in the background. But when we started looking, we realized that it would be better for someone from the family to take care of the baby, but mine and her parents are very busy as they work, so we decided to go for a long-distance job. I got my act together and we still stayed with the baby, taking it in turns to take some time away from work. But nothing, we got through it.

Super Mum

Is it a financial need to return to the work force so quickly? Most mums take at least 4 months of maternity leave to bond with baby and recover from the delivery. Hiring a daytime nanny can be quite expensive and not subsidized too. Of course if it is financially necessary, then by all means! Jia you!
