Why do I have to worry about cleaning my child's baby teeth? They're just going to fall out anyway.

Because they don't just fall out right away. Milk teeth begin sprouting from as early as right from birth and the first milk tooth falls out when the kid is around 6 or 7 years old. Dental caries not only affect the teeth, but also the root and gums. In the worst case scenario, it may develop into an infection which spreads throughout the body. I'm sure you don't want your children's teeth to look like that. http://eastcoastendova.com/9-things-know-tooth-decay/ http://sg.theasianparent.com/how-to-look-after-your-babys-first-teeth/

Hey Samantha, its true that baby teeth will fall off and new ones will emerge. however, if you don't care for the existing ones, it can lead to poor oral hygiene and may cause infection in the gums and teeth, and lead to decay. not only will this cause pain and discomfort to your baby, it can also damage the new set of teeth that will come later.

You're right that they will fall off but tooth decay can sometimes reach to the gums and cause an infection. If the gums are infected, there are chances that new teeth might also have the same infection. That's why dentists say that even infants should brush their teeth irrespective of the number of teeth/tooth they have.

Yes they will fall out but that will only happen during 6-7years old. I have seen children as young as 3yo with tooth decay. What you are doing now is drilling a good dental hygiene for them so when they grow up, they can care for their teeth themselves

thanks
