What are the long-term benefits for kids to learn coding? Will kids really be left behind without it?

In my own opinion, I think a child will not be left behind if he/she does not know how to code. That being said, given today's dependence on technology and the fast paced development in this field, one would probably be at an advantage if he/she has some basic knowledge on coding. Still, I feel that interest has a big part to play in helping to learn and understand this computing language. Like the other subjects, one would probably struggle (I know I would) if there is no interest in picking up this skill. If you child display an interest in learning to code, I think there is definitely beneficial for him/her to pick up this skill. :)
