Around the 20th-22nd week, it’s usually the foetal anomaly scan, to look at the development of the baby and check that there are no abnormal features. They’ll also check the placenta and gender of the baby:) The day of the scan is not necessarily the same day as your gynae appointment. But they will schedule a gynae appointment for you after the scan. May be a couple of weeks later
Fetal abnormality scan by sonographer. This includes physical abnormality scan like detecting hole in the heart, cleft lip etc as well as baby gender reveal. It will be able to detect the presence of fibroids etc in the womb as well. Anything not right will be highlighted to your gynae who will explain to you in the next visit.
Detailed scan by the sonographer. After the scan, if there was anything amiss they will inform the doctor who would relay the message to you. I had to do the detailed scan twice because of the thickness of baby’s neck and a doctor spoke to me about it afterwards.
Sonographer will do a detailed scan and record the measurement of the head, presence of nose bridge, measure limbs, detect blood flow, etc. This report will be sent to your Gynae and gynae will interpret for you if there are any abnormalities.
It is a detailed scan and Doctor will explain the results after.
Growth scan? It depends on your gynae / hospital you are at
My gynae did explain
