if you ask me, my babies started sleeping for a longer stretch of about 5 to 6 hours around the time they turned a year old. till then, they would sleep for an hour or two and wake up. one thing i did differently with my second one was to introduce the concept of white noise, which is the everyday noise that goes on in the background, such as the fan, some noises in the kitchen and so on. it helped the younger one get acclimatised to some amount of noise, and reduced waking up in the middle of sleep with the slightest noise (which was a problem with the elder one).

I think after 7, 8 months babies start sleeping for a little longer duration than what they normally do. You feed them well and give them nice bath and they will sleep for longer hours.
