Recently I made porridge using 5 grains rice for my child. I find that the grains are still not soft enough even after I cooked for a long time. Any advise?

i soak the grains at least for half a day, and then use them to make the porridge. also, i would say cook it for longer with the lid closed and the heat on low to medium so that it can cook really soft and well.

You can try soaking the rice first after washing. My family is alright with the texture without soaking, but I've heard that soaking for 2 to 3 hours before cooking will help soften the grains.

Try to soak the grains and put in the fridge overnight, it will help to break down the grains and become softer when cook.

i usually soak it overnight then cook the next day. and the texture comes out perfect! you should try!

thanks
