My son is 8 months old and I am at the end. The night time crying must end permanently. How do I make it so that he knows when the sun is in the sky, playtime is on and when it is dark you are not to be heard at all under any circumstance?

Well! Firstly, when I read your question I laughed out loud. I wish there was some magic trick or a chant or a lullaby that could make a baby go to sleep in a jiffy at night and more so, set his body clock as ours. But, that cannot be so easily done. Infants are new to the world and its functioning, and it will require great efforts to establish a routine of the baby. And, I don't want to scare you, but there are babies who are unable to accept this structure as easily as others and till they are one year or more, and keep their parents awake throughout the night. I went through this article below, please read, it may help you in setting the routine of your baby. http://www.whattoexpect.com/baby-growth-and-development/getting-baby-on-schedule.aspx

Wanting your child not to cry is akin to forcing you not to talk. Babies cry to communicate their needs. Establishing a good bedtime routine helps, but it's too harsh to want your child to "not be heard at all under any circumstance" at night. Not all babies sleep through the night. I suggest you read up on a few more parenting books to understand the development of babies.

Establishing a bedtime routine really helps! This gives your baby enough time to wind down. Be consistent about it. Try not to play with the baby at night so the wind down process begins earlier than the actual routine. Here's a helpful article: http://sg.theasianparent.com/establishing-a-bedtime-routine/
