The breast pump will only squeeze at the areola part. Clean your nipples to ensure none of the holes are blocked, then do hand expression + massage to get some of the milk out first. If baby sucks well and there’re no blocked holes, baby can draw out all this milk and make your breast soft again:) use your whole hand to press down the top of your breast and go back and forth, then press the bottom of your breast upwards and go back and forth, followed by each of the size. You’re like pushing the milk from the sides of the breast towards the nipple.
Consider seeing a lactation consultant if this state doesn’t improve by tomorrow. If the breast stays like that, you might get mastitis soon. Hope things get better soon!
