Baby is definitely overstimulate. I will not bring baby to a singing session where is it so loud for a prolonged period of time and somemore just before bedtime. Evening activities should be toned down to prepare them for bedtime. Sometimes it happens to my baby too when she plays too much with her cousins and she wakes up in the middle of the night . is still sleepy but can't soothe herself back to sleep. I don't really like to bring my gal out consecutively for a few days for the whole day, especially if baby is the type who is hard to fall asleep type. Adults sometimes have to sacrifice our activities for baby's sake. Let your MIL know nicely bah..
Yes I have once encountered it with my boy. We brought him out and he didn't have proper sleep during the day. He cried non stop refusing to open his eyes too tired in the middle of the night. He cried badly and scratched my arm. I brought him out to the living room. Assuring him that I am there and we are at home. Ask him to open his eye and see. I kept assuring him that is OK. I am with him. After that he calmed down and opened his eyes.
Sometimes play too much and having dreams in sleep will also cry like this. i always ask my LO to wake up open eyes see when he cry non stop in the middle of his bedtime. Once fully awake drank water to calm himself down then he's alright

From 6 to 8 months, a baby should get an average of 11 uninterrupted hours of sleep each night and 3.5 hours each day, spread out over 2 to 3 naps ( morning, afternoon and late afternoon naps)
Overtired already. bedtime is way too late. You will also notice that she wakes up a few times in the night.
