A little sugar might make it more palatable for kids. Also, if your kids are old enough, served it ice cold. There is a Thai drink that I love which utilises chrysanthemums, some sugar and it's served with ice. Maybe you can give it a try? Here's a recipe you can try: http://www.rachelcooksthai.com/chrysanthemum-drink/

You can try this: Chrysanthemum and Wolfberry tea http://food-4tots.com/2009/10/07/chrysanthemum-and-wolfberry-tea/2/ You can take a look at her main post for some benefits and some notes she made about chrysanthemum and wolfberry in general.

I use a bit of rock sugar. Ling Yang water with winter melon is good too.

Add abit of rock sugar. You may add some Aloe Vera

You can put apple slices in the barley and bring to boil.

Hi thanks for the good idea. How many apple slices should we put? Will it be sweet?
