Is it true that our baby can remember tastes from when they were in utero?

Yes. I feel it is quite true. When I was pregnant with baby no.1 and I restricted a lot of different food intakes while during 2nd pregnancy I tried to relax and take in variety of food. During the weaning, baby no.2 is more willing to accept new food taste compared to baby no.1 who is slightly more picky. But, thankfully both of my kids eat green vegetables as I consumed a lot of vegetables during pregnancy. Studies indicate that the flavors and aromas of the foods mom eats during pregnancy, which pass through to her amniotic fluid, may affect her baby's taste preferences long after birth. "The more varied a mother's diet during pregnancy and breastfeeding, the more likely that the infant will accept a new food," says Julie Mennella, Ph.D., biopsychologist at the Monell Chemical Senses Center, in Philadelphia. http://www.parenting.com/article/what-babies-learn-in-the-womb

Yes, it's true. What a mother eats when she is pregnant helps to influence her baby's palate. The amniotic fluid is flavoured by what the mother consumes. Yeah Baby starts starts tasting the amniotic sac from about 21 weeks. Things like vanilla, carrot, garlic, anise, mint — these are some of the flavors that have been shown to be transmitted to amniotic fluid or mother’s milk.Studies have shown that babies remember these taste after birth.
