Which parenting style do you use and why ?

I'm thinking of open communication with your kid, and proceeding from there seems to be a better approach in the long run. I am asking since some of the parents suggested I should be more demanding and give punishments so that kid will learn which sounds harsh in my opinion.

A child is learning all the time and if a parent doesn’t teach values and guide plus set clear rules, a child will be left to his/her devices and will learn values from all sorts of avenues, be it good or bad. Once they are set in their ways, it’ll be difficult to correct and may even cause many misunderstandings/friction between parent & child, if the parent suddenly wants to enforce behavior/rules. So it’s better to be authoritative and be a parent to your child. This style doesn’t lord it over your child but fosters communication, learning and growing together with your child in mutual understanding and love.
