Company asks you to take unpaid leave before maternity leave

I’m currently in week 25 and plan to go back to hometown to give birth in week 28. Since it’s still some time before maternity leave, my company doesn’t allow me to wfh, instead asking me to take unpaid leave. Actually I feel quite disappointed that there’s no protection in Singapore for pregnant employee other than the dismissal … does anyone encounter the same thing as me?

I believe cause its still quite long till your maternity leave and company would be at loss. From company perspective. For me if needed to, i would proceed to take unpaid leave as atleast i wont get sacked 😅 For first trim i also took unpaid leave as my work doesnt allow me to wfh
