If your primary-school-going son asks you what the meaning on being gay is, how would you explain it to him?

if your child has asked you about it, it means that he has heard of the word from somewhere, or may already have a bit of idea about what it means but is not sure. talk to him honestly. of course you don't have to go into too many details, but keep it age appropriate. tell him that being gay is another type of a girlfriend boyfriend thing that he may have seen in movies. it means a special connect and a special friendship that a boy shares with a boy. be very normal while explaining so that your boy knows this is absolutely natural

by being honest about it. tell your son that there are different types of love relationships, and not just a girlfriend boyfriend types, even though it may be more common. a gay is when a boy and a boy are in love and like spending time with each other. be very casual and normal about it when you speak, so that your son understands that it is another way of expressing love and not something differnet.

Being completely honest with him. It is perfectly natural to have same sex couples. If you have this discussion with him early he will grow up more comfortable and confident with different types of relationships. If you are worried about wording - explain it to him in the same way that you would with a heterosexual relationship. Being in love should always be celebrated!

i would just tell it the way it is, that it means the friendship or bond that two boys share when they love each other. it is natural and nothing different, and is as loving and caring as a boyfriend girlfriend concept. always better to be open and normal about things with your kids :)

I'd tell him it's the term for when two boys like each other, and that their love and their feelings for each other do not differ at all from when a boy and a girl like each other. Why? Because love is love, #samelove!

That's a good one! Thank you.

please tell your child about what it really is. just tell him that being gay means when a boy loves another boy. it's the same as when a boy loves a girl, but in this case, a boy loves a boy.

I would tell him they are two people in love. Love is inclusive, not exclusive. Love is for everyone. Love exists in all shapes and forms -- so it could be boy-boy, girl-girl, boy-girl.
