When I was 9 weeks pregnant, I feasted on king crabs in Korea. Baby turned out well and healthy. I would love it if my child had "itchy hands" and liked to touch things as it shows that she is developing normally. When a child is curious, it is natural that she would reach out and want to touch it. Touching the item lets her discover different textures. You can use this time to communicate with her and teach her about the items that she touches and also on safety regarding dangerous items. Therefore, the answer to your question is yes, it is true that eating crabs as part of a normal diet results in a child who likes to touch things (part of normal, healthy child development). http://www.naturalchild.org/guest/missy_willis.html

I think itchy hand happens in every kid when they are growing up and they tend to be extremely curious about everything. I did not eat crab during my pregnancy but my daughter always grab stuff everywhere. When I am out with her, constantly need to check her pram if she took anything before leaving the store.

Itchy hands i think all kids like to touch things and there is no link to it. My pregnancy i ate alot of crab and lobster etc... and friends around also took it and baby are all fine. Perhaps those are old wives tale. Try not to pantang then nothing much will happen

"Itchy hands" are your child's way of developing. I wouldn't restrict it and would in fact welcome it. This is a very Chinese belief in where they believe you or your child will adopt the qualities of the food you eat. It has no scientific evidence.

No it's not true, because my wife doesn't eat any crab during pregnancy or normally, yet my son's activeness is like Dennis the Manace!

I doubt it. Babies are curious by nature and will reach out for anything that is "new" to them.

There is no scientific link between eating crabs and itchy hand. Just make sure it is fully cooked.

thanks
