Squats

I know squats for pregnant women are good as it strengthen your pelvic region. But I've also heard horror stories where squatting induces labour. Advise pls! And what about if you dropped something on the floor and wants to pick it up, is squatting okay? Sorry 1st time mom at 27 wks pregnancy now?
