Hi, anyone face flat head syndrome? Positional plagiocephaly?

I felt so useless as i didn't do well at taking care of my child. The mom guilt. We aware of it probably at 2nd month, but the doc mention he saw nothing. So end up at 3 month plus we decide to bring her to poly to get referal and seek hospital help. We think she is having flat head syndrome aka positional plagiocephaly. Anyone ever gone thru that? How was it like? I really felt guilty cause this is our 3rd baby. Most of the time i took care of her, so it can be my own fault. Cause husband juggling the other two.

My kid has flat head, and we went private for it coz by the time we sought help, waiting for the public hospitals is too long alrdy. Kid got fitted with a helmet at 7.5 months, wore till 1 year old. Improvements were most obvious in the first month, and then tapered off thereafter. Spent 4k on the helmet. Need to wear all the time other than showering, so it can be very hot and sweaty. The flat head issue is entirely cosmetic and doesnt affect his brain development. I did have the hairdresser comment tt his head is flat, but tt was alrdy at 1.5 years old, and honestly with his hair having grown longer ,its not so immediately apparent. if your kid is 3 months old, just rub the head to "smoothen" it out and keep changing his positions while lying. In any case ,when i look at adults around me,im sure some had flat heads as kids, and yet none of us will think tt, oh this person got a flat head, right? Dont feel too guilty, especially if your kid is only a few months old, can lessen the appearance one.

thank you alot, you have no idea how this reply makes me feel better. will try & check how it goes for the hosp so far while waiting , we notice just slight different. but hopefully it gets better , thank youuu

Back then, getting a helmet was quite expensive and I couldn’t afford it, so I looked for a more affordable alternative. I decided to try those special baby pillows that help prevent or reduce flat head syndrome. As long as your baby is under 1 year old, these pillows can still be effective. My baby had a bit of a flat head issue too, so I bought a few different types of these pillows to see which one worked best. I was quite anxious about it, so I ended up buying 2–3 different styles quickly. Thankfully, they helped quite a bit, and my baby’s head shape has improved a lot since then.

hi there, just went to doc and was refer to physio next. she mentioned unable to return back even with the help of helmet. which makes me so sad , and blaming myself more. the fact that your spouse mention " see i told you to rotate , now what happen " is not helping haha. she mention that the ear was not symmetrical which to me , there's a slight. i did the method of smoothen it out and change position, it seems way better but im just hoping atleast the head will not be as flatten or affect her overall look 🥲
