How much do customised cakes usually cost? My friend was quoted $500 for a Mickey Mouse 2-tier red velvet cake with fondant décor. Is that exp?

She can gets quotations from multiple places, but ultimately, she needs to choose the baker that will deliver what she wants and quotes a price she’s willing to pay.

my aunt bake cakes.. she can do customize too.. ask ur friend to google on what cake design she want.. i send to her and ask her how much she quote.. plus she use mashmallows as her fondant.. um $200 for 3kg provided the design my aunt can do.. and if too complicated, too much work might be more..

You can get a cheaper and better design for 2 tier cake.Tbh For $500 it's a bit too much for Mickey mouse design and most of the people will eat the cake not the fondant. You paid more for the fondant then the cake. And make sure that the cake taste good.

Sounds pretty expensive. But fondant and cream has a price difference too. Also depending on how big each tier is. I did a 2 tier with 7 and 5 inch for 200+?

You can try Smiling Orchid. I think they may be better-priced than $500 for the design you're seeking for. That's a ridiculous amount to spend on a cake!

That's the usual range but i'm sure there are others than can offer slightly cheaper? The range is between $350-$600 for that kind of requests.
