5 days after missing period. Tested negative when I missed period after 1 day. Hcg levels in your urine have to be high enough for the test kits to be able to detect. During the first few days after fertilisation, hcg levels almost double daily. Also, because of the high levels, first morning urine is recommended for higher hcg concentrations. If you're anxious, there are brands available that are more sensitive that allows testing even before your period due date. But those are more expensive kits.
