How long should a couple, who's trying really hard for a pregnancy, wait before visiting the fertility specialist?

Depends on your age as Hui Qun suggested. Gynaes suggest women below 35 and above to seek help after a year trying. Above 35 after half year of trying. I do have friends married in their late 20s who thought they have time on their side, so by the time they seek help from the gynaecologist in their mid 30s to late 30s, their chances of pregnancy through assisted reproduction is much much lower than the chances of pregnancy of a 20 something year old who also goes through the same kind of assisted reproduction. I would advise those who really want children to explore their fertility and reproductions options early, don't drag. The younger you are, the higher chance you will produce a offspring through natural (if lucky) or artificial means.

As a guide, doctors usually recommended seeking professional help if you have been trying for a year. If you are over 35, you can consult a fertility specialist after six months of trying. Me and husband decided to seek for help if we didnt have child after 2 years of marriage. But luckily we got pregnant and only knew it right before our 2nd year anniversary. We had sex regularly. Normal like other people and always look for my ovulation day but not so sure coz my period is irregular. So we keep trying and keep having sex whenever we think its the right time.

some of my friends waited for few years after married. They tried so hard then they went to fertility expert, unfortunately it was not successful then they give up. Few months later, my friend got pregnant. I think it depend on when do you want to go after trying for long time as well as your age as well.

Depends on your need i guess and also you should count on your biologial clock. Do you have more time? If not then i dont think you need to wait to meet a doctor.

12 months of trying randomly or 6 months if you are trying on the best days where you see clearly, slippery cervical mucus that looks like raw egg white.

My gynae told us it usually takes a year so I'd wait until then and also get a sperm test done before undergoing any fertility treatments.

We tried for 1 year before seeking the expert. We also tried IUI, IVF etc for about 5 years before my little one decide to grow and come out

After 1 yr but gd to be active in sexual activity as well as download the ovulation app so u will know when u ovulate..
