How do you deal with Pinoy kids showing colonial mentality? I overheard a set of tweens ranting to one another of how each of them wanted to have whiter skin and pointed nose because they think they are not beautiful enough.

Thankfully now there's a huge body positivity conversation going on in the internet. You can show them videos similar to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKTZAsDVkzs Keep the conversation light and ask them to probe into their biases--why do they think that whiter skin is prettier? Why are pointed noses more desirable than flatter noses? It's all about getting them to question their notions of what is or isn't beautiful.

Show them pictures of other beautiful celebrities, both local and international, that do not have fair skin and sharp features. Beauty exists in so many forms and people can be beautiful without those stereotypical standards of beauty. Most importantly, inner beauty is something that they should strive for, not just the physical -- everything else will fade but not the beauty within :)
