Freshness and quality at the time of freezing affect the condition of frozen purée . Store all foods at 0° F or lower to retain vitamin content, color, flavor and texture.Freezing process itself does not destroy nutrients. For optimal quality and nutrient retention, keep frozen baby food cubes in the freezer for a maximum of 3 months. But I recommend always recommend using within 1 month if at all possible. If you plan on freezing baby food, start with a few of the following fruits and vegetables that do not lose much in the way or taste or texture when frozen in pureed form: Sweet Potatoes Peas Cauliflower Blueberries Broccoli Cherries Beets Carrots Pumpkin Strawberries Beans and lentils Butternut squash Food that don't freeze well Bananas Pears Plums Avocados Apricots Pears Kiwi Cucumbers Read more at http://wholesomebabyfood.momtastic.com/freezepage.htm#IMJQsMZHUv0yh4zb.99

Just riding on this question...was wondering if we can freeze purees in the breast milk storage bags if we run out of storage cups? Secondly, after we steam and blend the food to prepare purees, do we freeze them rightaway or wait for puree to cool down before transferring to storage cups (and bags if answ to 1st qn is yes)? Many thanks :)
