Depends on the kids. Weekend work is absolutely fine just to keep them engaged. Not a big fan of making kids write too extensively and pressurize them. Activity worksheets work well.
My gal is now attending K1, has homework of only 2 pages on the last school day of the week.We feel that it is ok and its a recap of what they have learned for the week.
yes should , just to keep the kids remember what they have learnt in school, but not too much. teacher can provide them homework in a fun way so it wont burden them.

i vote for no preschool assigned homework... let the preschoolers enjoy their preschool years
I think simple homework for preschoolers (4 years and above) is fine. They enjoy it too!(:
