Agree that it's best to carry babies upright from birth as it's easier to ensure their airway is clear. And that SG50 sling might be tricky to use for babies under 4 months old. For a newborn baby, can consider these: - ring sling - stretchy wrap (eg Hana wrap, Moby wrap, K'tan) - woven wrap (not stretchable, about 4-5 meters long fabric) - selected soft structured carriers that can be used from birth without infant insert eg Kokadi Flip, Emeibaby, Baby Roo, Lillebaby and Ergo Adapt - soft structured carriers with inbuilt infant insert eg Manduca, Boba 4G - soft structured carriers that require a separate infant insert eg Ergo (other than Ergo Adapt) and Tula (can be warm for baby in our weather!) Can consider using a ring sling first then switch to a soft structured carrier when baby is about 4 months old (usually would have better neck control) as you would have more choices then without bothering about infant insert. Contrary to Diana's answer, newborns and infants should not be placed in a cradle position unless they are nursing. The sg50 babasling shows how to carry infants in cradle positon, but this is extremely dangerous. Carrying your baby in a cradle position for extended periods of time is dangerous as the baby's head will be too low for you to notice if the baby has any difficulty breathing. The sg50 sling is not easy to master and is more suitable for infants about 4 months onwards. You may get an ergonomic soft structured carrier or ringsling. I am using Pognae. Tula and Ergo are popular brands, but infant inserts are required. Babies should be worn upright, and that applies to even newborns. Do read up more on babywearing for infants. Ringslings are an affordable option. Http://sg.theasianparent.com/best-baby-carriers/

I used it when my baby was a newborn. I knew the risks that Jamie mentioned and therefore I would check on her constantly especially to check if she's breathing well. I really needed to keep one of my hands free so I used the sling. Don't think that anyone would allow a product that can surely kill to be produced. Its a risk not guarantee. So just be wary.

Hi, the sling is suitable for infants. It is best to put baby in lying position when they are young as their neck and spine are not strong yet. When they grows older, you may consider baby carrier that are in sitting position e.g. TULA, i-angel etc.

The sling works for some. If it does not work for you, then its best to try something else. Keep your options open and know that babywearing should be comfortable for both mummy and baby. Happy babywearing!

Hahaha! Thanks Huishan!

I have tried the sling before but I really had a hard time getting used to it. You might want to consider using the Boba wrap.

Types of carriers. Opt for the ergonomic ones and avoid the non-ergonomic carriers eg hip seats and narrow based carriers.
