Does FBM supposed to have a fishy & strong smell? Is that consider spoilt milk? Can we still feed LO if it's not spoilt & normal to have that smell? How Long can they be kept in freezer?

Hey Xiao Fen, no that is not spoilt. It is considered spoilt only if it has soured or turned rancid. Yes you can still feed LO. Yes it is normal for fbm due to lipase. Personally I couldnt tolerate the strong and fishy smell and I almost puked when I thawed it. Many suggestions to handle it. Add some freshly ebm to the thawed fbm. Or scald ebm before freezing. https://www.berkeleyparentsnetwork.org/advice/nursing/grosstasting

Yes, the milk can still be given. It is normal to have the smell or even metallic smell. It is not spoilt at all. Normal freezer you can keep for a month if it's shared with other food items. Normal freezer without foodstuff other than your bm can be kept for 3 months. Deep or chest freezer, you can keep it from 6-12months.

If also depends on the food you eat. The metallic smell from some of my frozen stash can be so overbearing even milk bath in it turns me off. You can try scalding the milk but there a risk the nutrients will be destroyed from the heat.
