Does 1 year old toddler needs toothpaste when i clean his mouth? Or just brush it with bare toothbrush is enough?

I started off with just water to get him used to it, mainly to get him make it into a good habit. Afterwhich when he was about 18months old, then i used tooth paste that was when his intake of solids really increased. There are many brands of toothpaste out there, try looking for something natural and non chemical. Hope this helps.
