Usually they will stop when full. But at times when my LO was younger, she drink way too much that my mom said her tummy is full of water. So we just massage her tummy. But she is on direct latch. So I'm guessing, more on comfort that she suck on and it just keep on coming out.
If he direct latches it's slower so he can always stop when he's full. Bottles are a bit faster so he might still overdrink a bit. But it's not a big concern unless he's really uncomfortable cranky gassy afterwards, spitting up a little is very normal
