Doc, my wife often complains about feeling bigger and not like herself since giving birth. Our child is now over two years old. I always support her, but she never wants to take my advice about exercising. Whenever I bring it up, she gets upset and says, "Why do you keep telling me to exercise? Do you think I look that fat?" But that’s not what I mean at all… I just believe that exercise can help her feel better. I don’t know if this has something to do with her hormones or something else, but reading this post, I feel like getting a doctor's advice might really help. Thankfully, my wife has allowed me to ask this here.

First, I want to acknowledge that you're doing a wonderful job by supporting your wife and showing concern for her well-being. Postpartum changes—whether physical, emotional, or hormonal—can be really challenging, and it’s not uncommon for women to feel different or "not like themselves" after giving birth, even years later. After childbirth, many women experience shifts in their body, hormones, and mental health, which can make them feel out of sync with their pre-birth selves. Hormonal fluctuations, including changes in estrogen and progeWhile exercise can certainly help improve mood, energy, and self-esteem, it’s important to approach the conversation gently, as she may be sensitive to the topic, especially if she’s struggling with her body image. Sometimes, feelings of frustration or resistance to exercising come from emotional or mental struggles, rather than a direct desire to avoid physical activity.sterone, can contribute to physical and emotional changes, such as weight gain, m

Doc, what is fertility therapy like? Are there any side effects? I feel like I need to improve my daily diet because my periods have been irregular, and my mood has been a bit all over the place… Or could this be because I rarely exercise? I’m not sure. But one thing’s for sure is I don’t feel as fit as I used to, even though I’m only 30....

married for 2 years but not pregnant yet. i think my diet is healthy enough (still drink and smoke once in a while in social settings, but very rarely…). but i dont regularly exercise… do you think it is because of my lifestyle?

It’s wonderful that you’re already taking care of your diet, as it plays a crucial role in fertility. However, there are a few lifestyle factors that may be affecting your chances of conceiving. While occasional drinking and smoking in social settings may not have an immediate, major impact, they can still interfere with fertility over time. Both smoking and excessive alcohol consumption can reduce fertility in both men and women by affecting hormone levels, ovulation, and sperm quality

hi... have been married for almost 3 years now but still not pregnant yet... i feel like i'm stuck in neverending stress: work, trying to get pregnant, family pressure. it really feels like a devilish cycle...

I'm truly sorry to hear about the stress you're experiencing. Trying to conceive can be overwhelming..especially when work, family pressure and your own expectations feel likw a constant weight. Stress can negatively affect fertility, so it's important to prioritize self-care. Taking breaks, practicing midnfulness, seeking support from a counselor or fertility expert can help you navigate these pressure in a healthier way.

Hi I want to ask… is it true that coffee really affects our hormone? i’ve been struggling with irregular menstrual cycle and some people say try cutting my coffee intake as it screws woman’s hormone

3mo ago

Yes, it's true that coffee can impact hormones, particularly for women with irregular menstrual cycles. Caffeine, found in coffee, can affect the levels of certain hormones, such as cortisol, which is a stress hormone. High caffeine intake may also interfere with estrogen levels and affect ovulation, leading to irregular cycles for some women. However, the effects of coffee can vary from person to person. If you’re struggling with irregular periods, reducing your caffeine intake might help, but it’s important to also consider other factors like stress, diet, and overall health. If the problem persists, it’s a good idea to consult with a healthcare provider or fertility expert to get a clearer picture of what might be causing the irregularity and find a tailored solution

Hi doc... Can staying up late or not getting enough sleep mess with hormones? I often do that. I find it hard to sleep before midnight. trying sleeping pills but i dont want to be addicted to medicine

Staying up late or not getting enough sleep can definately mess with your hormones. avoid screen time 30mins-60mins before bed time, diffusing lavender essential oil in bed room, avoid stimulants by limiting caffeine and sugar intake from afternoon , avoid large meals before bed time, warm bath before bed time are some of the guides that may be helpful

Is it true that balancing hormones through fertility treatments can help with mood swings and energy levels. Because it hink nowadays almost all women are struggling with these problem 😂😂😂

You're absolutely right that many women experience these issues! Hormonal imbalance is a common challenge, and addressing it can make a big difference in how we feel.

been noticing changes in my period since i got a new job. i’ve been kinda stress lately maybe that’s why… but i just dont know how to cope with this problem :(

3mo ago

It sounds lke stress from your new job could be affecting your menstrual cycle, which is common. Stress can disrupt hormone levels, leading to changes in your period. It's important to address both the physical and emotional aspects of stressin order to help regulate your period. Some tips to help cope: practice deep breathing, listening to soothing music, a walk or stretching can help lower stress and improve blood flow which may help manage menstrual changes. If you are feeling overwhelmed, talking to someone, whether its a friend, family member, or a professional, can make a big difference in managing stress.

doc... If I haven’t exercised in a long time but want to start for fertility, what kind of workout is good without shocking my body?

it's important to choose exercises that are gentle yet effective. eg: Walking helps to ptomote circulation. Yoga accompanied with breathing techniques helps with stress reduction, specific yoga poses can help improve circulation to pelvic region. Pilates strength core muscles.
