As part of Filipino myth/tradition is to cut the baby's hair when he turns one and keep it in between pages of a dictionary or bible. They say it's going to help the kid be more intelligent. Is anyone still doing it? Does it really work?

My cousins would always ask me to cut their children's hair as they turn one year old and they kept it in any book, so I guess some people still do the tradition. But I think it doesn't work at all because a kid's success in school can never be dictated by a myth like this, hard work and innate intelligence does.

I agree. Maybe it's just a tradition and it's somehow fun. Like, keeping memories of your baby's 'first' stuff.
