My 5 day old baby has yet to start breastfeeding. Every feeding time when i try to do so, he just sleeps without attempting to suck...

You can try put your milk surrounding the nipple area..or at his lip just to make him taste the milk..then pressed your areola at his nose untill he wake up and suck..need to practise and doing it many times..
