Hi, my 2 yr old daughter is very reserved and shy kind. She speaks only at home and whenever guest or anybody stranger for her comes at our home. She feels insecured. Please help how to make her friendly and outspoken.

Hello Arwa, this is a perfectly normal stage for babies to go through. As your baby grows, you will notice that she is sometimes very friendly and wants to speak to everyone, and sometimes too shy and quiet, and will get cranky and start crying if anyone other than mom and dad come near her. kids go through these stages where they are suddenly extrovert or suddenly insecure. it is alright, but make sure you do not force her to be social with others. if she wants to be only with you, let her be. cuddle her and hug her and tell your you love her and let her feel assured that mamma is always around. to put her at ease, you can take her out everyday, maybe to the garden or even for walks around the neighbourhood, so that she is okay to see strangers around, but does not have to speak to them. don't give this too much importance and she will soon be fine with it too.

babies go through different phases of being friendly and shy. this is perfectly normal. your baby will now start developing her individual personality, so i would say that while you help her see other people around as part of daily life, don't try to force her to be friendly. also, being friendly is good, but being outspoken i don't think is such a good idea. as long as she is comfortable and is alright to see people, don't worry. just be with her and make her feel safe and secure.
