My 4 month old self soothe herself to sleep by sucking her fingers as well. I try to get her to sleep by putting a comforter next to her but she still ends up sucking her fingers. I don't think there's anything wrong with our babies sucking their fingers to sleep - when they are awake, perhaps always tell them not to suck their fingers so they won't make it into a habit. FUN FACTS: I noticed girls tend to suck fingers more than boys. My boys never did suck their fingers. I wondered why...

Haha babies are very smart!

All you can do is to keep removing, otherwise give her an alternative like a pacifier or teething blankie. At 10months old, that is her way of self soothe. Ill take it positively though. Many other parents are struggling to teach their bubs to self soothe. Maybe you want to let this slide. Just my thoughts.

Self soothing is natural and babies who sleep independently use this action to sleep and stay asleep. PD said you can wean this habit off when she's a toddler through distraction and negotiation.

thanks
