Being a mother to 2 young children in my early 40s has been one of the most frustrating, tiring, challenging, messy and yet also rewarding role in my life. Both of my children have taught me patience, unconditional love and putting someone else's needs above mine, traits that I never had before having children. Looking at them growing up healthily and happily makes me feel that I am the best mom in their world. #TAPxHandmadeHeroes

#TAPx59S Both my babies had prolonged jaundice and as a mother it really breaks my heart to see my babies get pricked everytime during the blood test and find out their jaundice levels are still high. If you are exclusively breastfeeding your jaundiced baby, here are some tips : 1. Feed frequently, ideally every 2 hourly. Wake baby up to feed. Jaundiced babies tend to be very sleepy. 2. Avoid consuming alcohol, ginger and herbs in the meantime. Although not proven, these might get into the breastmilk and affect the baby's jaundice. 3. For prolonged jaundice cases, your doctor might recommend you to get your baby further tested in the hospital to see if the jaundice is caused by more serious issues eg UTI, liver problems etc. My second baby has a clean test result so the doctor said it might be due to breastmilk jaundice, since she is gaining weight well. For breastmilk jaundice, just continue to breastfeed. The jaundice will reduce and disappear eventually. Breastfeeding jaundice however is different as it means the baby is not getting sufficient breastmilk. Please get the advice of a lactation consultant for this problem. Hope these tips are helpful. Happy breastfeeding!

Pump consistently every 3 to 4 hours for at least 10 to 15 minutes. 2. If your workplace is not conducive to pump or you have a very busy schedule, invest in a handsfree pump. 3. Place all your pump parts in a container or zip lock bag and put them in the fridge after every pumping session to save time on washing up. 4. When you are back home, just latch your baby. Hope these tips are helpful. Happy breastfeeding!

#TAPx59S You are expecting your baby anytime or just had your baby and you are determined to give the best to him or her, including breastfeeding exclusively. Here are some tips from my personal experience to make your breastfeeding journey a successful and enjoyable one : 1. Latch latch latch : If possible please give birth in a breastfeeding friendly hospital who will encourage and guide you to breastfeed your baby as soon as he or she is born. I delivered my second baby in Putrajaya Hospital and got to room with my baby so she has full access to my breast anytime. 2. Try to avoid pumping during the early stages : I know those with confinement ladies will let their babies sleep in a separate room with the confinement ladies and pump their milk to let the confinement lady feed with the bottle. You are not getting more sleep by doing this as you still need to wake up, pump and store the milk in the fridge. And if the baby is exposed to the bottle too early, he or she will have nipple confusion and might never want to direct latch anymore, leaving you no choice but to be an exclusive pumping mom. For my second baby, I got the confinement lady to room with the baby and I, so my baby has full access to my breasts and the confinement lady can do the rest like burp and change her nappy. Also over pumping might lead to clogged ducts and mastitis and trust me as a mom who has experienced that several times you don't want to get it. For those who want to start collecting a milk stash before starting work, you can use a milk collector on the other boob everytime you nurse your baby. I collected quite a sizeable stash this way, without the hassle of pumping separately. 3. Feed on demand : I know its tiring but babies can't feed on a schedule. Please feed whenever the baby wants. It will be good fpr maintaining a good supply as well and prevent clogged ducts. Hope these few tips are helpful!

Beginning dental care early is important for your child's health and to keep teeth healthy for a lifetime. Healthy baby teeth help children eat and speak clearly. Baby teeth guide permanent adult teeth into the proper position. Some baby teeth are not replaced by permanent teeth until the age of 12 or 13. Dental care includes cleaning your baby's gums even before the teeth come into the mouth. Keeping your child's teeth and gums clean is the easiest way to keep them healthy. #theAsianparentxMAMBaby
