Breastfeeding Tips For The New Mom
#TAPx59S You are expecting your baby anytime or just had your baby and you are determined to give the best to him or her, including breastfeeding exclusively. Here are some tips from my personal experience to make your breastfeeding journey a successful and enjoyable one : 1. Latch latch latch : If possible please give birth in a breastfeeding friendly hospital who will encourage and guide you to breastfeed your baby as soon as he or she is born. I delivered my second baby in Putrajaya Hospital and got to room with my baby so she has full access to my breast anytime. 2. Try to avoid pumping during the early stages : I know those with confinement ladies will let their babies sleep in a separate room with the confinement ladies and pump their milk to let the confinement lady feed with the bottle. You are not getting more sleep by doing this as you still need to wake up, pump and store the milk in the fridge. And if the baby is exposed to the bottle too early, he or she will have nipple confusion and might never want to direct latch anymore, leaving you no choice but to be an exclusive pumping mom. For my second baby, I got the confinement lady to room with the baby and I, so my baby has full access to my breasts and the confinement lady can do the rest like burp and change her nappy. Also over pumping might lead to clogged ducts and mastitis and trust me as a mom who has experienced that several times you don't want to get it. For those who want to start collecting a milk stash before starting work, you can use a milk collector on the other boob everytime you nurse your baby. I collected quite a sizeable stash this way, without the hassle of pumping separately. 3. Feed on demand : I know its tiring but babies can't feed on a schedule. Please feed whenever the baby wants. It will be good fpr maintaining a good supply as well and prevent clogged ducts. Hope these few tips are helpful!
