A friend of mine doesn't even let her baby wear mittens because it restricts the movement of the fingers. The traditional basis of wearing mittens is so that baby doesn't scratch his or her face by accident so she regularly trims her babies nails. It's a struggle to trim those tiny nails sometimes but she rather do that than make her baby wear mittens.

Most of my friends either didn't put on mittens for their babies or stopped after four to six weeks. The main concern is like what the rest have brought up, which is being worried about baby scratching himself/herself. Most had to trim their babies' nails daily or every other day after they stopped wearing mittens for their babies.

It depends on individual. I let my baby wore it till she was 5 mths whereas my friend only let hers wore till 1 mth old. Her reason was, the mittens might affect the growth of the baby's fingers whereas my worries were more of she scratching herself Coz their fingernails grew v fast by the day.
