When will my baby start to control his head movement?
How old is your baby now? It is important to know that a newborn's neck muscles are quite weak and cannot support his head. However by around the end of his second month his muscles will have strengthened enough to briefly lift his head when lying on his tummy or when propped up on your shoulder. At 3 to 4 months of age, he should be able to hold up his head more during tummy time and look around to see what else is going on around him. By 6 months of age, your baby would have developed fairly good neck control and can hold his head steady when sitting, propped up on someone's shoulder or in a carrier. Hope this helps.

At three to four months, he/she may be able to raise his/her head up to 45 degrees while lying on the tummy. Giving more tummy time could help strengthen these muscles. You can also try having him lie on you instead of the mattress/floor so that he could lift up his head to look at you. You can also shake a rattle on either sides of you baby’s heard to encourage him/her to turn his/her head from side to side.

By six months, your baby will have developed neck muscles strong enough to hold her head up and look from side to side.

His neck muscles and head control should be strong and steady by 6 months. However, each baby's development may be different from one another thus just taking this as a guide and do not be pressure if you baby is not meeting the milestones yet.

After a few months, your son will start lifting his own head and moving it from side to side. By 6 months, he’ll have a full range of movement :)
