on what reasons would you stop breastfeeding? if supply dropped and not increasing but maintained at 2oz in total for a pump but baby intake has reached 5oz per feed, and tried booster, does it means drying up or/and should stop soon?

Is there any reason for the decrease (such as during period?)? When to stop is probably a personal choice. Most of my friends tried to continue for as long as they can manage. When their supply started decreasing (mostly due to their return to work), they continued to pump but supplement with formula milk when required. I have a couple of friends who eventually stopped as their work demand really made it difficult for them to maintain a good pump schedule. Some, on the other hand, were able to continue as they were still able to keep to a 3- or 4-hourly pump schedule.

Most of friends stop breastfeeding because of work, especially those who work strange hours or shifts. Those who travel quite a bit for work usually supplement bm with formula and eventually just stick to formula. But they do try their best to breastfeed for at least 6 months.
