A friend of mine is a huge proponent of the Marmet technique. Besides the tips offered by Ling, she said that being gentle is key in utilising this technique. Don't force it or squeeze too hard as it will cause bruising. Stroking the breast area from the top of the breast to the nipple with a light tickle like motion as well as leaning forward to help gravity eject the milk along will help too. The Marmet technique will come in handy when there is no electricity, it's convenient, portable and pretty much free!

I love the Marmet Technique. Prefer it to an electric pump. Its good ti have a warm shower followed by a massage before sessions. This is in order to stimulate the breast and get it going in order to have a smoother flow. Don't belittle the warm shower and gentle stroking of the breast. Try it and you will realise how helpful it is. Ever since i started doing this, i started enjoying sessions more. I hope this answered your question a wee bit.
