BPP vs. CAS
Hello. Is there a difference between Biophysical Profiling Scoring and Congenital Anomaly Scan? I just had my BPP and I'm not sure if that's the CAS already. Any thoughts is highly appreciated. Thank you and God bless
yes its different. cas (evaluates anatomic structures of the fetus, placenta, and maternal pelvic organs) is usually done on the second trimester and bps later at around 32-34 weeks to check on the fetus based on 5 points, (1) nonstress test; (2) fetal breathing movements (one or more episodes of rhythmic fetal breathing movements of 30 seconds or more within 30 minutes); (3) fetal movement (three or more discrete body or limb movements within 30 minutes); (4) fetal tone (one or more episodes of extension of a fetal extremity with return to flexion, or opening or closing of a hand; and (5) determination of the amniotic fluid volume (a single vertical pocket of amniotic fluid exceeding 2 cm is considered evidence of adequate amniotic fluid).
