Kid starting to become a picky eater

So far, our son has eaten pretty much everything., but he is getting slightly picker now. Should we force him to eat what we had cooked (he would actually eat it eventually)? Or should we give him something (healthy) instead? We fear that the more we allow him to protest, the more he will.

Like what Nalika said, offer him options! Prepare a few different things (eg. separate the vegetables instead of cooking them altogether into a stew), then let him choose what he wants on a plate - if he doesn't finish his food, or doesn't eat a specific type, don't force him to eat it because you'll only be giving a negative experience to it. Take note of what he eats and what he doesn't, but don't give up on those that he doesn't 100% because you'd end up encouraging his pickiness instead. For those that he doesn't like to eat, try to make them more exciting/interesting so he might change his mind on them :)

how old is your child? kids do get fussy at times. my kid eats the same thing as I from as young as 10 months old. his portion will be without salt, now that he is older I use a bit more seasoning and he is fine. mealtimes should be relaxed and happy and everyone should eat together. is he self feeding already? a kid won't want to go hungry, if he doesn't want to eat, remove him from the table but tell him that that will be his lunch or dinner that he is not eating and he will have to wait til the next meal time. 1-2 skipped meals is enough for him to learn that an empty stomach is not a happy thing.

Don't force him. Set several (healthy) options for him on a plate and let him choose what he wants to eat.

thanks
