My sister has diabetes, few years later she got pregnant . When she had her first check up, her doctor advise that it is risky to continue her pregnancy since she is diabetic and she was advise to let her prenancy stop. She was so depressed because she dont want to take the life of her baby . Can anyone knows why its difficult for a diabetic woman to continue her pregnancy ? What are the possibilities that she might encounter if she continue the life of her baby in her womb ?

For starters, her baby can develop gestational diabetes. High blood sugar during pregnancy could also have adverse effects such as high birth weight, C-section delivery, and preeclampsia, a complication that can lead to premature birth. Please ask her to seek a second medical opinion because some moms only develop diabetes when they get pregnant so perhaps it can also work the other way around?

I have a cousin in states who had the same situation. She can't get pregnant because she's diabetec. Giving birth involves wounds and stitches. We all know that most diabetics can't get any wound or even just a scratch because it take them a long time to heal the wounds. That might be the reason why which makes sense.
