Should I use body shampoo for my baby? All the while I just rinse with water only. She is 6 month old now. As I read some articles baby doesn't need to use body shampoo. And mainstream baby products contain numerous toxic ingredients that will enter your baby’s body if used. What do you think? If so when should I start using body shampoo for my baby? Which brand will you recommend? http://www.treehugger.com/health/7-chemicals-and-toxins-avoid-when-buying-baby-products.html

Use baby wash or very mild soap – the kind that doesn't really lather up – to clean your child for the first 12 months. Skincare products formulated for babies are gentler and less likely to irritate the skin, and babies just don't need the deep lathering effects of regular soap. If your baby has eczema (patches of red, dry, scaly skin, especially on the face and in the bends of the elbows and knees), ask your pediatrician to recommend a bathing and skincare regimen as part of his treatment. Children with eczema can be particularly sensitive to the ingredients in lotion and soap. But even children who don't have eczema can be sensitive to the ingredients in bath products, so call your baby's doctor if he develops a rash or feels itchy.

I agree that babies do not need shampoo. Unless their head is really oily and grimy or they have poured food all over their hair :-) But water will do just fine or a body wash. However, there are a number of gentle and organic baby products out there in the market that you can use too. Cetaphil, pureen, pout care, curash, original sprout, babyganics, California baby, just to name a few. Most of them are plant based and biodegrabale so they are safe for the baby and for the environment too.

till 6 months of age you really don't need to use any soap or shampoo, unless your baby gets really dirty. after 6 months of age, you can clean her with a gentle baby soap or shampoo. i would suggest go for brands such as Biotique Baby, Himalaya or Cetaphil as these are extremely gentle on their skin.

you can start using body shampoo after your baby is 6 months old, but make sure that you pick the right brand. i personally loved cetaphil for my babies, as it was very gentle on the skin. also, both my babies have dry skin issues, so it helped a lot as well.
