Should babies be eating salt?

All food/semi-solids (eg. puree) given to children below 1 year old should NOT contain salt/pepper/sugar/spices or any kind of seasoning/flavouring. As for when they should be given that, it depends on your own comfort level - but the general guide is to be as late as possible. Think of it this way, our kids have their entire lives (literally) to explore the different tastes and flavours of the world - so there's no need to rush into it! Our priority should be on providing nutritious food for their growing needs :)

Please avoid adding salt to baby food, even if you feel that it doesn't taste that good.. Baby’s kidneys can’t cope with a lot of salt.

please don't add any salt, pepper, sugar or any herbs to your baby's food. babies should eat natural foods for as long as possible...
