Delivering at KKH

Just to share my experience with all mother's delivering at KKH or any other hospital, I delivered via c sect at KKH. I stayed at A1 ward for four days and the nurses there were nice generally but advocated latching and breastfeeding asap. Just to advise all mothers that if your breast milk hasn't come in just top up with formula because of insistence to breast feed exclusively, my baby was dehydrated and had uric crystals in his urine so don't feel guilty about having to rely on formula first but definitely try to get baby to latch on. That's my personal advice!

Hi Mummy! I agree! Same here! Recently just delivered at KKH. Being a first time mom I have no experience so I listen to the nurses advice 'blindly'. I force myself to wake up every 3hrs just to breast feed my girl when my supply hasn't came in yet. Nurses kept squeezing my nipples! It was crazy! To all mummies - don't force & stress yourself to latch for the first few days. Try to get as much rest as you can because there are more works to be done when you are home. Don't ever think that 'Baby sleep = Mummy rest'. This only applies if you have a full time confinement nanny + your husband is around to help. My personal experience 'Baby sleep = busy mummy washing & sterilize bottles, go toilet change pad, clean up yourself, change diapers, massage boobs, pump milk'. When you thought you have 5mins to rest = baby start to cry.

I totally agree wif that baby sleep thing. We moms cannot rest if baby sleeping

Encountered the same as you. Delivered in Nov 2019, and found that they truly advocate breastfeeding. They kept on saying "so good u got milk coming out", "ur baby able to latch" etc. But when i got home, it was the total opposite. Its like they are playing with our minds and esp since we just delivered and feeling so vulnerable and being a ftm, it was so stressful when i got home. It affected me in the first few days of breastfeeding, but then i gave it up and expressed my milk instead. So sorry to hear abt ur baby. I didnt face that, but hope both u and baby are doing well now.
