embarassing preganncy

My pregnancy is so embarrassing. At first, I was very happy with this pregnancy. But slowly, I started producing saliva in abnormal amounts 😭 No matter what, I always feel like spitting. I'm embarrassed to keep spitting. Until now, I'm ashamed to leave the house. I'm ashamed to meet people, I'm afraid of being laughed at. Why is my pregnancy like this... I want to go out without feeling embarrassed. I know my pregnancy is a blessing, my pregnancy is healthy, but I can't stand the embarrassment of having to spit all the time, I can't stand it. Has anyone ever experienced this kind of condition during pregnancy?

Hi mummy! You’re not alone! I suffered from ptyalism my entire pregnancy. Although it’s not common, it’s not abnormal. It is probably due to the hormones. I always spit into tissue and will wake up to a full floor of tissue. Unfortunately my gynae also said there’s no real solution to this. But the only consolation is that it will definitely go away once baby is out. The day I gave birth, it stopped immediately! I was very open about my situation during my pregnancy and I find that it really helps. I laugh it off whenever I share it with my friends although I was really suffering cos it was so uncomfortable. Sometimes I manage it by chewing gum so I don’t feel the discomfort when trying to swallow the spit or I eat sweets! Jiayou mama!

I choked on my excessive saliva many times during my first tri, (sometimes I wasn't talking nor eating I just suddenly choked and coughed violently) many embarrassing moments of people being concerned haha but hang in there!

I understand how you feel, I’m on my third trimester and the abnormal amount of saliva still have not stopped. Whenever I go out I’ll need to find a toilet or have a small plastic to spit out my saliva

Me too! Every night I will have drool rolling down from my mouth while I sleep, this doesn’t happen to me before pregnancy! But hang in there mama! U are not alone!

How about wearing a mask when u go out? you can explain that you're just being careful to not catch any bugs due to your pregnancy.

I had to carry a plastic bag everywhere I go, had to spit saliva every second also. Only stopped at week 14.. jiayou

I drooled a lot during my pregnancy. woke up to wet pillow
