PD or GP? What is your choice and why?

I would recommend you to let young children (below 7 years old) to visit PD. PD is specialist in handling children's cases and know common diseases in children better. From my experiences, ome medicines prescribed by PD indeed more effective for children. For older children, a trusted family doctor is good enough.
