He can read or sing to her when she's awake and active. I've read that babies learn to recognise their loved ones not only through touch but also through sounds. My fondest memories of my late grandfather is him singing to us in our mother tongue (Malay) and when we were older, he'd read to us in Javanese (his dialect).
