MIL caring for BB

Hi mummies! For those who have gone back to work after maternity leaves and has a MIL to care for the baby, would you set the ground rules with her first (Eg. You are the parent so she needs to follow your instructions) or only tackle and explain when thing arises? How to avoid conflict due to different LO handling style? Just worried about having to deal with such situations..
